Steam & Excursion > 3985 in 2010

   Here are some shots of 3985 in 2010, in her last year of active operation before being laid up for "repairs."  In that year, she pulled the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey circus train from Speer, which is just west of Cheyenne to Denver.  She later ran on a trip from Cheyenne to the southwest.

1.  Going through Carr, Colorado with the circus train.

2.  Just south of Greeley  She was really making with the stack talk here!

3.  Archer, Wyoming, just east of Cheyenne on the southeast trip.  She would pick up the rest of the train around Council Bluffs.  HORRORS!  NO DIESEL!!

IIRC, it wasn't "laid up for repairs" until the new manager
(that's him hanging out of the fireman's window) decided
it needed repairs.  The list of what it "needs" has changed
constantly since then.

Great photos Brian!  What a gorgeous piece of machinery.  Makes you sick when you think about the current situation.

Actually that consist from Cheyenne to the south east didn't change, it was just what you see in that last shot.

All the UP videos from this trip and Steve Lee's videos from the 50th anniversary trip are gone from the UP site. I miss that thing so much.

UP's way of showing respect. They want to erase
all memory of anything that happened before 2011.
