Madrid, NM. Question
Author: whistlepig

Does anyone here have any information on the one remaining dormant steam engine #760 behind the building in central Madrid New Mexico?  Thanks in advance.

What about the other locos that were there?

The 870 (with 874's tender) was moved to Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs, CA in 1989 and cosmetically restored.  Engine 874 and 870's tender were presumably scrapped at some point before the Madrid mine shut down in 1959.

The 769 is slowly sinking into the ground :( Saw her about a year ago. Not much done for cosmetic upkeep. The stair/railing/platform going up the cab were falling apart :( Bit precarious to walk up them.
