Meanwhile in Altoona a Centennial is looking new again.

As part of the deal of the Y6 going to Roanoke, NS repainted Museum of Transportation's Centennial. They even put "Railroad" on the shield.

HOLY COW!!! What a nice paint job. NS is more accurate than the UP is I think. Seems the numbers on side of cab are a bit big or am I wrong??

Out of curiosity, does this unit run?

Doesn't really matter whether it does or not, that is one darn fine paint job!

Saw this today. She looks fantastic. So odd to see Norfolk Southern post a photo of a UP locomotive. They are a class act.

No, it doesn't.

Will UP dispatch UP 6936 to Altoona to lead UP 6944 back to St. Louis? That would cool.

Or NS could use one or two of it's ex-UP 9043 MACs ...

Wow. Everything is right except the font in the numberboards.

Now that's NICE!

Is the NS management thumbing their collective noses at the UP with this?

Also, Norfolk Southern now has FOUR serviceable steam locomotives at their disposal for 2015, more nose thumbing of UP?

All sounds good to me. Maybe it could lead to some at UP wondwering why they don't have any servicable steam locomotives.

In a sense, I understand what you're saying.  However, I think most of are aware Thoroughbred Mechanical Services TMS at Altoona / Juniata is happy to do contract building, rebuilding, repair, and painting.  This "shows off" their efforts & abilities. They have some amazing craftsmen there.  The only minor thing I disliked was the number boards.

That would be cool, either scenario.  However, I read on here the UP's 6936 was currently not operable. DOH!

It seems NS is doing a better job of preserving UP history than UP is at the momnet.   :-)

I wish UP had re-engined these beasts and kept them on their "hot" trains.

Super work, NS.  Maybe NS should also help UP with their steam program?
