Steam & Excursion > Great day in Carson CityDate: 05/23/15 22:17 Great day in Carson City Author: px320 Today was the official, and I mean "Official", debut of Carson Tahoe Flume & Lumber Co. Locomotive #1 "GLENBROOK."
This 1875 Baldwin had languished in front of the Carson City Mint building for years. In 1981 it was moved to the budding Nevada State Railroad Museum for restoration. the goal was to restore this once proud locomotive to its' as delivered, operating condition. The tender was completed as were some of the detail parts, but other priorities and a subsequent lack of funds intervened. Cris deWitt and crew perervered, funds were raised by way of a grant from the Weigand Foundation and today this magnificent locomotive was unveiled before a crowd of several hundred people. Dignitaries gave due recognition for this accomplishment and a good time was had by all. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/23/15 23:08 by px320. I wish I could have been there yesterday, but will definitely have to stop in and see it next time I'm visiting family in Lake Tahoe.
