Another 611 Video from June 13
Author: MaryMcPherson

Here's one more look at N&W #611's Lynchburg trip on June 13th.

The video begins and ends at Lynchburg's Cotton Mill trestle.  Other locations are Pamplin, Burkeville, east of Wellville, Crewe and Pamplin.

Mary

Always been a fan of your videos  . . . great camera work and many of the locations were relaitively 'people free' . . . especially loved your last trestle clip!

Mary, thanks so much for presenting and sharing your excellent video.  I really enjoyed the silhouette shot at
the end.  You really have a talent with your selection of locations and shots.  I look forward to future contributions
from you and your camcorder.

Mary, great video. The best that I've seen so far this year...

That said... The whistle... Just isn't right. I know the Claytor's own her real voice. What happened with P. Claytor? Why did he leave Fire Up? I knew 611 for the first 10 years of my life. I have shots of myself as a toddler in her cab in Ludlow, KY to prove it... Plus, soul-crushing memories of her whistle echoing across the Miami Valley on her last run on the Peavine. The 1225 sounded more like the 611 last year than the 611 does now.

It's more than the visual... The sound is just as important.

That's all.

Hi Mary:

Thanks so much for posting this video. As I have posted before, my grandson and I were on the train that day in the GN dome. I can't wait to show him this when he comes out here in a couple weeks.

Thanks again,

Randy in Phoenix

Excellent. But what is wrong with  people. Obviously you use a tripod. And probably set up well in advance of the train. Then some idiots decide they need to be closer to the train than you and end up right in your shot. Do they not understand the concept of a photo line? Whoever gets to the location first has it established. Come on guys. This is basic courtesy.

Truly Great Work!..Keep it up!..(Next steam trip?)..are these trips still sponsored/run by N&W?..or private organizations now?...(I thought I read a few/many years ago that N&W stopped their steam program?

Agreed. Fantastic video Mary. But closing my eyes, the whistle sounds like the SP 4449 to me. However, better that than a stuffed and mounted display!
