White Tires in the Wild

Here it is, folks, a UP loco, out on the plains back
I'd hazard in the late 1950s, sporting White Tires.
She also looks as though she's been scrubbed just a bit.

It did happen.

I found this shot a few minutes ago over on ABPR (usenet).
It's one of Bud's.

That is at Laramie,WY  and the engine was spiffed up for a fan trip
on the Coalmont branch.

IIRC, there were two separate trips, one ending up as a real mixed train.

I rode oneo fht them, I'm told, but was too young to remember much.

I have seen some of Jim Ehernberger's photos of the Coalmont trips with the 535. Yes it was all decked out for those runs.
