Steam & Excursion > Taylor Roundhouse shop switcherDate: 08/01/15 12:11 Taylor Roundhouse shop switcher Author: WrongWayMurphy In 1940 the 567 replaced the 221 at Taylor.
First photo show out with the old, in with the new Second photo - close up of the 567 (funny numbering of a non-EMD lokie) Was this a fireless job? There appears to be no fuel bunker or tank unless hidden under the cowling. Date: 08/01/15 12:27 Re: Taylor Roundhouse shop switcher Author: MojaveBill According to Guy Dunscomb's "A Century of Southern Pacific Steam Locomotives" 20 Pacific Lines 0-6-0s were converted to shop switchers and were tank engines, including 567, in the late 1930s... 567 was the only one given the "streamlined" look.

Always thought it was a neat looking engine!

There was also # 565 that was almost identicle to 567, it was used at LA General Shops Roundhouse.
