(send it to Portland, give Doyle the $100k, make a $100k contribution to ORHF, and pocket the rest... For Wes's retirement funds..) That engine's already had double that amount ($700k) poured into it, is this to be another 1361-like 'money down a rat hole'? I would surely want to audit, in detail, ------ where, specifically, that $$$ would go, how it would be spent and what specifically, in that engine's current state, requires an additional seven hundred thousand dollars! Oh, well! wes c. Date: 08/31/15 18:25 Re: Reading 2100 report Author: DR Trains forgot to include this part of the report.... "To date, the Fire Up 2100 project has received over $7,000 in donations and interest from corporate sponsors and tourist and regional railroads."
Seems like $7000 is a little low for as long as they've been trying to get doantions. Date: 08/31/15 21:07 Re: Reading 2100 report Author: thefracturedfrog I've said it before and I will say it again. $700k might get it running (maybe), but won't get it running right. The previous owner did far more than that in damages. That is all.
-Froggie Date: 08/31/15 21:40 Re: Reading 2100 report Author: Finderskeepers Froggie, please inform us of the damages you know of that haven't already been documented by the crew currently inspecting the engine. They have reported the firebox in good condition, tubes and flue in good condition, they know about the bent main rod and the scored bearings from lack of lubrication. They know about the coal auger needing re-installation etc, so what have they not found that you are keenly aware of?

Other than mention the coal augur was available I dont recall them saying anything about undoing any of the oil mods or the cost related to getting it back on coal. I thought the engineering cost pretty high..is that typical??

They have also acquired the 2100's booster engine and other components. Date: 09/01/15 07:53 Re: Reading 2100 report Author: HotWater Macster Wrote:

I would think that all the repairs required to the running gear machinery would cost a LOT more, including a new side rod. They have also acquired > the 2100's booster engine and other components. Ha yeah, sorry, need to proofread when on no coffee and just waking up. Main rod and bearing repairs will be the bulk of the cost, followed by the coal conversion, booster install and plumbing, etc. Date: 09/01/15 12:55 Re: Reading 2100 report Author: Defective_Detector So, considering the money they are going to spend on the booster it seems like they have some big plans.
