X4024 on the Siskiyou
Author: drumwrencher

Extra 4024, Yoncalla, Oregon. Mr. Brown says it was on the Siskiyou line, Dec. 16, 1945. The 4024, I believe was a 1911 Baldwin 2-8-8-2. 30-plus years out, and still earning her keep. I also have heard crews didn't care much for these locomotives, especially in their old age.  RC Brown photo. Used with permission.

Enjoy

You have a rare find there, Walter. There aren't many photos of cab forwards, and especially of the old MCs, on the Siskiyou Line. The 4024 only had four years to go before retirement.

Oh, THAT 4024! Initially I was wondering, "what is a Big Boy doing on the SP?"
