1309 is actually being restored, unlike the 4014 that Mr. Spikes has been so fixated on.

Greetings, all!

Thank you for your interest in #1309.  If you are looking for pictures of the on-going restoration, you may wish to look at the photos section of our Facebook pages:

https://www.facebook.com/Wmsrsteam
https://www.facebook.com/WmsrFoundation

The restoration is progressing well and although it will be "down to the wire" to complete all of the required work for the start of the season in 2016, there is no question #1309 will be operable in 2016.  However, at this time, we do expect she will be operational for the beginning of the season.

We are preparing for the boiler UT and expect tubes/flues to be delivered in the next couple of weeks.  After that, work will start to progress at a very rapid rate.  It's very exciting for all of us at the WMSR and those supporting the work to watch #1309 coming back to life.  As the last commercially built steam locomotive built for a U.S. railroad, she will be a living, working testament to all those who supported steam operations through the years.

We look forward to seeing you on-board the Western Maryland Scenic Railway!

General Superintendent
