Here are a few from a weeks long photo charter on the Ffestinog and Welsh Highland Railways in Wales. We were blessed with 4 days of sun...most unusual for Wales that time of year. The charter utilized 8 different locomotives of various configurations. Our group consisted of mostly English and Germans, with one token American. The first three are from the Ffestinor Railway....the Slate Works near Blaenau Ffestinog....and on the Cob between Porthmadog and Boston Lodge.

Next is at Campbell's Platform, At Ddaullt Loop, and inside the new Porthmadog signal box

Last are two South African NG16 Garatts on the loop at Rhyd Ddu, second along the Ffestinog Hydro resevoir which was the cause of the Llyn Ystradau Dievation built between 1965 and 1978, followed by sunset at Boston Lodge. Thanks for looking.

As a member I'm biased but I don't think the FR and WHR can be beaten, especially their articulated motive power.

Why does it look like there is steam coming out of the dome of the tank car that is spliced between the two garrets?

We recently also enjoyed a trip to Wales and got to ride both of these lines and the Snowden Mountain Cog Railway. Here are a couple shots from our trip.

I. Taking on water for engine 138 at Beddgelert on the WHR
2. Taking on water for the SIr David Lloyd George at Tanybwlch on the Ffestiniog
3. Our train at Llanberis on the Snowden Mountain line
