If the current sharp drop in the equities markets proves to be an accurate predictor ( it usually does) of near term economic activity then there's sadly a strong chance that further sharp cost cutting will be in UP's near term future?? If that happens the Heritage Projects costs are probably low hanging fruit??

Real restorations are focused, structured and are proceeding according to the well established priorities. We have had several recent, sterling examples of how loco "restoration-to-operation" is actually accomplished. When competent, well functioning teams are are at work remarkable progress is a beautiful thing to behold. When stumbling, sefl-centered work ethics criteria rules the roundhouse the results are always an unmitigted failure. Its fun to comment on the clown-like antics of some some of these 'projects', yet it is far better to monetarily support those other efforts. It would be fun to turn those comments about the U.P. steam progress into a cash fund ----- where-by contributing $10.00 per word,----- post-ers to the 844/4014 subjects would draft " per word/checks". to the organizations that support ACTUAL , functioning, steam loco operations outfits. AND, also if the readers of all of these thousands of 'Dickens Opinions' would, likewise, send money off to the Good Guy, successful efforts. Even at a penny a word, written or read, contributions would raise million$ fo the cause(s)..... Oh, and by the way---- the computer-generated mass sell-off is a rare buying opportunity for the students of Benjamin Graham, and the way to wealth accumulation. With algorupithm-generated trading orders, the microsecond execution rates are impossible to get out ahead-of. Buying opportunities generated by abject fear and panic are rare, and the current turmoil is an example of what these computer generated activities look like. Also, remember that the Chinese Stock Market has NO legal protections for market participants. If the public market gets too much 'power', there is NO protection from the possibility of communist government take-over of the assets in the market. same with the Moscow-Mafia controlled equities market. Since Greece has ripped of the fig-leaf fro the Euro currency, who's gonna put their cash THERE? The Saudis have decide to wreck Iran's thoughts of making money off of petroleum-dollars, and Putin is livid over what the Saudis are doing to HIS petro asset prices. As gas prices in the US of A, head for the below $1.00/gallon range. Economic activity predictions and comments & yammering are gonna mean overflowing buttery popcorn bowls... IMHO.. Wes C. Seems to me if 10% of the stuff poster here on his mismanagement of the steam piece of the Heritage Program at UP were true that he'd absolutely avoid any public exposure whatsoever??
