I've said it before and I'll say it again. I totally understand the reasons why SLSTA pulled the plug and would never dream of second guessing their decision. 1522's absence is sorely missed in these parts.

Regards,
Burlington John

1522 's whistle has to be one of the best . That long mournful whistle in the distance  on a moonlit  summer night brings back memories as a kid lying in bed and looking out the window at the trailing smoke as she runs quickly through the night .  People who came along after steam don't realized what they missed. Damn , they were the best of times

Some beautiful sounds on that tape.   Nice pacing.  Amazing how she almost sings at speed.   Great stuff.   Thanks for doing the transfer and thanks for sharing.

Insurance costs were getting too high, the engine had boiler work that was coming due and a lack
of railroads willing to host the engine. Also car rental was expensive. Frisco1522 can add more if
I have missed anything.

I'm sorry but, as much as I love the 1522, I couldn't watch more than about half of that. No tripod, and WAY TOO much zooming in and out. Pretty hard on the old eyes.

I did three of those Haslet-Metro Jct-Haslet turns and had a ball.  Had a pilot who was great and enjoyed his trip.  Life was good.  But then, there was that damned Texas water................
