I will be riding both trips in Prairie View on Saturday and taking pictures Sunday

I am on Saturday afternoon in dome Scenic View.   What is the order of domes front to back?

Friday and Saturday are the Strawberry Festival in downtown Roanoke.  Expecting 10,000+.  Parking?????

I'll be your car host in Prairie View. Please note your "alias" when you get checked in. There is a parking garage on the south side of the tracks in the Wells Fargo tower and another on the north side of the tracks at 2nd St. and Shenadoah Ave.

Who was the brain surgeon who scheduled a festival the same weekend as the steam trips?  Photographing (not chasing) with friends from Europe. Otherwise I wouldn't bother the way the train looks.  Rode last year and already have both routes for mileage.

The brain surgeon was actually the brother of the VMT coordinator who scheduled the trips on the same weekend as the long standing strawberry festival.

Amazing how everything revolves around railfans....strawberry festivals, train consist make up.......

I agree with the two posters above me. 611 is running for everybody to enjoy the sights and sounds of a lengendary steam locomotive that is running on a Class 1 Mainline in 2016.....Boohoo the cars don't match.

Can't believe the comments from some children that are apparently so easily butthurt over the make up of the cars in the trains. If you don't like it, just stay home or don't look at it, few people care what you think anyway.  

I will say, for the people that have paid premium prices to ride in the domes, it is certainly nice to be up front on board where you can see & hear the engine as opposed to rarely, if ever seeing it with the domes on the rear.  I think the train make up was very logical.

We sure keystone didn't change his name to andersonb?  I didn't hear about the festival, but cool, I like strawberries.  Didn't affect my ability to get a cheap hotel room. 

Like Jim said, by all means, stay home.

Also, if you can't shoot the train in a manner that crops out the rainbow cars, you need to re-evaluate your abilities as a photographer.

Getting back to the original subject, I'll be on the Wisconsin Valley Saturday afternoon.  With a party of six.  I understand that a retired Norfolk Southern Manager of Steam Operations will be our lead attendant.
