It is amazing that this can be worked out in the very very busy chicago railroad area. ---- Daniel Date: 05/04/16 10:02 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: HotWater Yes, not to mention NO MORE 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION!!!!

It looks like the "Standard coach" is the NS excursion cars, which sadly I believe have had their dutch doors welded together into a one piece door. June will be quite the excursion month, with N&W 611 and MILW 261 running the 4th and 5th, and now 765 running on the 12th. Looks like another great year for steam!

Date: 05/04/16 10:25 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: Defective_Detector You can move around, but you'll have to sit in your assigned car.

I asked this on Facebook. Cross your fingers...this was the response: It's possible, but we can't confirm at this time. We are planning at least runby, however. Date: 05/04/16 15:50 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: Rich_Melvin On Metra rails we'll see 60-65 mph. North of Fox Lake, on the Wisconsin Southern, things will slow down a bit. Most of that portion of the line is 25 mph, with a short section slow-ordered to 10.

I believe those doors may have been modified when those cars were in commuter service. NS probably didn't make that change. At least for all the trips that have been run in Indiana, the domes have been towards the rear, and stayed there if the consist could be turned for the return leg. I have no idea what the facilities will allow on this trip. Posted from Android Date: 05/04/16 17:59 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: RuleG tehachapi-dave Wrote:

Pere Marquette 1225 is also running in June. Date: 05/04/16 19:07 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: railfan400 Glad that they don't make folks stay put.
Date: 05/04/16 19:52 Re: 765 to Chicago in June Author: inCHI Neat! The starting point of the "Glen of North Glenview" is a curious one, for those familiar with the line. I don't think there is a siding there, and it is a fairly busy double track main (even on a Sunday), so I'm wondering how they will route the train. Just north there is A20, where the UP New Line from Bensenville connects, and there is a two track lead that might fit a passenger train between the two switches, but then the train would have to reverse back to the station. Or, it could come via A5. It would be interesting to know which option they'll choose. A5 would allow a short bit of higher speed running on Metra before loading. There might be a chance of a meet at speed between the excursion and an Amtrak train, depending on the timing.
