The sponsoring organization and the railroad need to make money to pay for the operation of the train including the insurance and this trip is not being operated for the benefit of you photographers, many of who do not make any monetary contribution to these operations. I can tell you this: the owners of these passenger coaches, like the Washington Chapter NRHS, have spent a lot of money restoring and maintaining their equipment and believe me, it takes big bucks today to keep these cars in service. If you don't like where they place the cars, go fly a kite.

The same people that "care" whether or not the Virginia Museum of Transportation elects to paint the locomotive blue with pink dots adding a "VTM" banner on the smokebox and tender. Nearly everyone cares - it's just the degreee of frustration and vocalization that seperates the good form the bad among us. /Mitch |
