Any new about the locomotive has the city of Nashville given the restoration the green light?

Its actually NC&StL 576 and a decision is supposed to be made next month.

Somewhere I read that the reason the NC&STL named the 4-8-4's "Yellow Jackets" is that someone in the upper management of the NC&STL at the time had a connection to Georgia Tech,which calls it teams "The Yellow Jackets".  Is there any truth to that?

Well it was built as a Yellowjacket, but it looks like it ended up a stripe:

Well maybe but the engines had a wee bit of streamlined skirting painted yellow, so someone invented the term and it stuck.
