Steam & Excursion > This Has Got To Be The Saddest Paint Scheme On A Locomotive!Date: 05/24/16 03:15 This Has Got To Be The Saddest Paint Scheme On A Locomotive! Author: LoggerHogger Steam locomotives were adorned with many different and varied paint schemes over the decades from the time they left the factory and during their service. However, this simple lettering scheme is surely the saddest.
When her days of service finally came to an end, the shop crews at NWP's Tiburon, California facility simply blacked out the NWP numbers and lettering and applied this simple word and a date to mark the end of NWP 4-4-0 #20. Built by Cooke in 1884 for the NWP she had enjoyed over 50+ continuous years on that railroads roster. However on August 1, 1935 all that ended. Martin Edited 4 time(s). That steam engine looks nearly like the type that ran during the Civil War era!

Fortunately, the last photo charter I ran paid for the cost to return her to looking like this! Martin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/24/16 13:57 by LoggerHogger. |
