Quick Look at an O-5
Author: UPTRAIN

I found myself up in St. Joseph, MO today and decided to stop by and have a quick look at the Q 4-8-4 on display in the park.  She's a July 1937 product of the West Burlington, IA Shops with a Baldwin boiler.  The oil burner was donated to the City of St. Joseph, MO during May 1962 upon retirement.

At least it has a roof over it now for the last several years.  A definite difference in the front from the first series to the second. Still hoping to see one run someday.....

Hope you had time to go to the Patee House Museum a few blocks away, one of the best in the area. Railroad, Pony Empress, etc. Lots of St. Joe and area history from before the Civil War. If not, you better go back.

With all the different locomotives being rebuilt there is still not a murmur of rebuilding a CB&Q 4-8-4.....sigh

Our office was right down the street, used to stop and admire the 5614 every trip and agreed that the roof
was a nice addition.

Out

Hmm... I've never been up there to see that one.
