I'm going all off of memory here, so my apologies if I have something wrong. There is a railroad docent, plus members of several university geology department; they have great hand-outs and have maps and charts in the gondola to explain what we see. Yes, there are several stops where passengers can de-train and look at rocks (or trains). The train leaves Antonito about 2 hours before No. 1 and gets to Osier to meet No. 2 and be passed by No. 1. By then we were all well fed and the railfans had nice photo ops of both the other trains. We got to Chama about 600 PM. The highlight was to de-train at the east end of "rock" tunnel and walk through it, after which we took positions on the west portal for photos as the train pulled by. It usually sells out. |
