Baldwin 26 Today

Finally got to see Baldwin Locomotive Works 0-6-0 #26 in action since her rebuild. The 1929-built engine looks awesome. Great job by the NPS staff and volunteers.

Decided to get a little more creative after lunch. Sometimes it's worth taking the path less traveled.

Again, great job by the NPS! Really enjoyed myself today.

Unremarkable as it is at least it's steam and for most folks at least it demonstrates the basics. Only us foamers know how long it took and how much it cost ( vs. what it should have taken & cost) whereas the general public could care less.

Guess we need to be grateful for small victories.  Ross Rowland

Photo five on the bridge would make a great poster.
Thanks for posting these.

Your last photo is an image of the day candidate.

I can't believe Baldwin didn't put one of their number plates on the smokebox front.  That would have been the crowning touch.

Great photos.  Was there/is there a name for the shade of green?

And a proper looking train as well. No open car, flags on the front, or yellow vests to muck things up.

When Jerry had this engine it had a Baldwin plate with the #3 on it, I think he still has the plate.
One with #26 on it would be a nice touch.

Same here - considering how many number boards
are often applied by railroads to thier equipment.

Accurate, but looks like something's missing.

Nice shots, Adam!

Looks like miracles do happen in regards to the
sunny day forecast which held true.

I'm heading up there in August and look forward to seeing and riding behind the Baldwin.  Real nice job with the photos.

Interesting that a 1929 built engine still had slide valves.
