No THAT'S funny!!!!!   The volunteer group spends all that time and money to move the 5000, and now the city wants to sell it out from under them?  Politicians,,,,,,don't you just love 'em?

I wonder how many deserving cities or significant smaller towns along the Santa Fe never got an ATSF display steam engine? Right off the bat, Argentine comes to mind...

An RFP typically doesn't require them to award the deal being considered to any responder.  At least scrap companies won't bid with the insurance requirement.  Talk about a short-sighted City Council....sheesh.  Hopefully there will be enough backlash so they will re-think their decision to put it up for sale.

Seriously, I hope the deal tanks and if it doesn't, the "Queen" gets a good home. It's a very historical engine. Might be time to contact the Feds.

I wonder about who approached the city first, then came
up way short of virtually everything required.
