Doubleheaded Steam on the Peavine

N&W 611 and NKP 587 run Cincinnati to Portsmouth in late summer of 1989. I don't even remember chasing this trip so I can't give any details whatsoever.

Pretty sure that was the Independance Limited that year.  Remember riding into Batavia behind the two.

Yep 1989 IL between Cleveland and Roanoke. Trip on the Peavine was the second day of the trip on June 18th, 1989.

I wonder why the 587 has the water car with the Tuscan stripe?? Any reason as to why they donated THAT N&W water car to them and not the other?

The end result probably wans't worth the time just to swap the two aux cars.

Also, what's with everybody saying "THAT" all of a sudden in all caps?

Of course, being out of town and in college, I missed all of the big steam that visited Cincinnati in the late 80's and early 90's.  I missed practically all of it due to the heavy demands of working and going to class.  Never mind the expenses.
