San Digo Arizona Eastern
Author: Ardenwood

I was on a trip from Tijuana to Campo behind SP2353 but cannot remember when.  I would appreciate any help on the time when this happened.
1. The train enters a tunnel in Mexico and exits in the States.
2. The exiting train comes on a bridge.
3.  I think it is in Mexico but I can be wrong.

The 3rd photo is eastbound in the US, about MP 61.

Nice photos!

It appears to be a special operation on the SD&AE operated by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum.  I was the Conductor on that trip as a volunteer (as always).  As I recall, we operated both a diesel powered passenger train and the steam powered freight train, with passengers getting off the passenger train and setting up for the following freight train.  GREAT DAY!

The actual date is gone from my memory.

What I do know is that Photo 1 and 2 are at tunnel 4 at MP 60.05 on the SD&AE, photo 2 is at the bridge at Division around MP 60.05 and photo 3 is eastbound at about MP 61.3 or so.  I was on that hill with the passengers.

All photos are in the USA.  Mexico is through the tunnel west (south).

Sure would be nice to see this SP 4-6-0 back in steam.  I'm sure the cost of the needed firebox repairs is pretty hefty.

Maybe $500,000 for a new boiler and $250,000 for machinery.

Yes, it would be nice.  Lottery winnings, anyone???
