Steam & Excursion > C&TSRR = Cumbres Pass = Semaphore Installation

I got a call that the installation crew was installing the Harrington Semaphore so I loaded the Camera Wagon and off to Cumbres Pass I went. IMHO the Friends are finishing up another fun project.

Technically not a Semaphore, but rather a Train Order Board.

Looks like the folks did a fine job on the train order boards. Congrats. I will check them out when I ride in October.

What animals seeing running under the porch/platform?  Would it be squirrels or chip monks?

Roger - in a nutsheel:

Semiphore conveys authority to pass and/or track occupancy
Train order board tell the crew that the operator has train orders to pick up.  Those orders MAY convey authority to pass and/or track occupancy

It's still a semaphore.  The name doesn't refer to the type of information it conveys, it refers to the mechanical composition and design of the apparatus.  It's a train order semaphore if it's anything.

That being said, I wish it had been installed when I was there on Monday, but I guess I have yet another reason to go back!

Roger, I am shocked that a man with your usual love for wildlife  has not thoroughly documented the comings and going of the small creatures at Cumbres. Look  to the 2926 website's coverage of their so-called "ferrule" cats who must be the most rotund ferrule cats in the Western U.S.
