Excellent write-up in today's Riverside Press-Enterprise about the recently completed rebuild program of D&RGW #340 at Knotts. Article shows a photo of the gentlemen who performed the work. Good to see the #340 back in operation after 57 years of service at Knotts. You may be able to access the article on line but I was unable to extract the photo and pass it along!

Doesn't sound like they pulled and replaced the tubes.  I guess they are insular and don't have to.  Not sure about the paint and bling, but its nice to see a neat little engine running again.

I gather they're not subject to Federal boiler regulations.

Nope, just the State of California ones.
