Steam & Excursion > Old/New NS Steam Consists?

Im trying to find a list of what NS executive cars or private passenger cars were used in the 80s/90s excursions with 611/1218 that are still around today and even used on the modern 611 excursions. Would anyone happen to have a resource for this info? I am trying to build as much of an "accurate" excursion consist in HO as I can to use my new BLI 1218 to pull.

Interesting Question:

The only cars I've seen that operated behind both the 611 circa 2015/16 and the 1218 prior to 1992 (when I think it was laid up) are:
N&W Baggage car 1407 - owned by Roanoke NRHS
N&W 539 "Powhattan Arrow" - (now) owned by Watauga Valley NRHS
FEC 500 "St. Augustine" - now owned by Watauga Valley NRHS - was named "Clinchfield 500" for a while (always sounded like a race to me :-)

Some other memorable cars:
Huntington NRHS had a UP dome coach, a SAL Budd Diner that made the circuit, there were other former UP coaches and food service cars involved owned by the Fuhring family...

Maybe some folks who lived it can weigh in on the subject...

Not quite sure where to start...but here it goes.

I agree that the St. Augustine, 539, and 1407 are repeat cars from BOTH Era's.  Did the Moultrie ever make it out in time for the original program?

If we are going to identify ALL the cars used in the program, it would be quite the list.  For a while, there were actually 2 separate trainsets out at the same time; and 75% of these cars were leased from private individuals or NRHS chapters.

As far as Fuehring cars that were on the trips, the 2 most common cars were the 4802 & 4806.  Looking back on alot of trips, most notably the St. Louis NRHS trip, you can easily spot that cars because of the silver trucks and open windows.  Another Fuehring car that made an appearance was the #4001 lunch counter car; it only ran a few trips.

I'll try to get back and start adding cars to the list; any additional input is welcome.

I think this can turn into an interesting thread.

A couple of notes:

Water Car WT52 was also a regular--It was with 750 most of the time, but I've seen at least one shot of it behind T&P 610, and I think it may have been used with 1238 in 1981.  It was donated to SRM/Atlanta NRHS when 750 returned from NS in early 1984, and went to the New Georgia from 1985-92.  Was used behind 290 on the New Georgia, but 290 carried the N&W bottle on the trips to Jacksonville and Chattanooga during which she was leased to NS.  52 is now back at the museum.

T&P aka "Big" 610 is a 2-10-4.

Commissary Car 206 was owned by the Atlanta, NRHS when used on the excursions.  It was sold to Blue Ridge about 10 years ago.
