The cab has been removed, all the super heater units have been removed, grates and ash pan has been removed. Date: 08/27/16 22:57 Re: Work done on 4014 Author: Realist And another employee got fed up and quit last week.

With well more than 200% employee turnover since January 2011, I believe the term "hard to work for" is a major understatement! He moved 4014, finished 844, and will steam 4014 next. One must be pretty strong to do that. Date: 08/28/16 12:43 Re: Work done on 4014 Author: HotWater Spikes Wrote:

You must be joking! You may have been a volunteer for/with the current manager, but you sure didn't work for, and receive pay from, him. I don't have the words..........!!!!??? Date: 08/28/16 16:05 Re: Work done on 4014 Author: wcamp1472 It will be interesting to see how they go about removing the front engine.
If "l'm a perfectionist" does a proper tear-down and renewal of the common 'renewables', like flex-joint packing, etc... Seems me to have been a routine back-shop operation, back in the day... W. I've seen Ed's sociable side in UP Steam's better days, before the 844 was sidelined for almost 3 years. So there's no need to be sorry, others have seen it. But then, this manager I used to work for also had a sociable side, and he used it to appease people when necessary. He also had a vengeful side (and a paranoid side, having his kiss-ass spy employees listen in on office conversations). Some people know how to be "nice" by design - I try to avoid people like that. I had several minutes of free time when riding a train yesterday, so I re-read the copy of the complaint filed by Carolin Miller against Ed Dickens that was still on my USB drive. Driven? Maybe, but for the wrong reasons. Responsible? Absolutely not. I don't understand why he hasn't chilled out after dodging a bullet with the repair of the 844 recently. Hero worship won't make a difference on the state of 4014 - that's my advice. Thank you. Date: 08/28/16 19:21 Re: Work done on 4014 Author: A-1 It's a bit of a stretch, but the saga of UP steam and 90's era Guns N' Roses have some similarities. Both were great for a good while, then bad blood and politics began to divide them. GNR's original guitarists and Steve Lee departed and things began to slip immediately. One by one, the old timers that made them great left amid a flurry of lawsuits. A slew of replacements came and went. Years of no results piled up, with the front men, Axl Rose and Ed Dickens, stringing loyal fans along by insisting really important behind-the-scenes things us mere mortals wouldn't understand were happening. Both eventually devolved into bad jokes. Finally, under heavy pressure from handlers, "GNR"(Down to just the singer and a bunch of nonames) crapped out a forgettable album and Dickens ran 844 on one short excursion. Now we're at the part where maybe ED could take a page from the biggest, most stubborn ego in rock n roll... recently Axl Rose dialed back his ego and brought back much of the talent that made Guns N' Roses an American classic. And from what I could tell when I saw them a few weeks ago, they are still capable of putting in an impressive show.
