C&TSRR = Double Header = Then & Now

I figured to have some fun with the double header on Saturday September 17th

Fun and well done but an immediate dead giveaway is that never in the ownership of the D&RGW was the condition of the track anywhere as good as it is today!  You need to get rid of some of that rock ballast and plant more weeds and grass!  See below.   :-)

Naw, after all the work the track guys have done I would't think about changing anything.

. . . nor would I ever seriously suggest it.  I had the opportunity to ride the C&TS a year ago and was really impressed by the track condition.  Someone is doing an excellent job.

Six years ago, I was fortunate (unfortunate) enough to ride the last train across the Lobato trestle. Two weeks ago, I was fortunate to ride again. The trestle is beautifully restored, and the roadwork is awesome (rivals much of the class one rail). I am one happy travler. 
Roger's photography brings back all those memories.

This appears to e at least FRA class 5 track.
That can only be accomplished with dedicated and ambitious track people and enough funds to purchase and install the needed material..
