If you haven't had enough of 3751...
Author: bearease

Here's a quick video of 3751 coming North on Tuesday night.
The first clip is at the Newhall Metrolink station. The second is at the Via Princessa Station.
Enjoy!

My apologies if this has been answered and or discussed.  However what was the purpose of this trip?

Thanks in advance.

Metrolink Dog & Pony show if I recall correctly. I doubt that locomotive did much "work" unless they were using dynamics the whole way. To the op, thanks for sharing, liked how you left the end on there with the whistle in the background and everyone walking away.

That consist was probably around 800 Tons and maybe give or take 200 ft long. That's a lot of weight for a short distance to be carried 60 miles up a 1.3 to 2.6% grade.

I'm pretty sure the diesels weren't in dynamics for much of the trip other then the downhill potion coming into Newhaul.

Even in idle those two freight motors weigh over 400 tons.

That's 10 Passenger cars in today's standard.

Fair enough, I guess I figured they probably were not idle.

The diesels were in dynamics for most of the trip up the grade to provide a little workout for the locomotive.

Yea, she sounded so great trailling off like that, that i just let the camera roll even if the visual wasn't that good. I've been trying lately to NOT pan as the train passes by because it's just diorienting and amaturish. But in this case I wish I had. I don't know much about steam, but it sounded like it was working pretty good through Via Princessa! And it didn't seem all that slow going through the station either. That was a fun night.

Thanks to all for the kind replies.

Wonderful video and especially recording while exiting the immediate area.  I got the same Bone chilling sensation from your audio as do when I play Brad Miller mobile fidelity sound lab recordings of steam UP 844, SP 4449 etc on my stereo system.

Very good,

OK, so who is the BC rail fan? Was that a LACoF BC or a LACity BC?

BC is Batallian Commander.

The purpose of the trip was to open a second platform at the  Metrolink Vincent Hill-Acton Station. Western themed-country-semi-arid area a.k.a desert. Located just west of the city of Palmdale.
Funny though, again, as I mentioned in my earlier writing on my own posting. This is SCRRA Area, Metrolink track, formerly SP and they had a BNSF consist. Amazing what modern railroading management can do.
