The can of worms has been opened!
But what I've heard the boiler is coming apart, all the appliances have been removed, cab is off. Not much more.

I think the YouTube ( or any other koolaide ) videos about anything steam on the UP might be spiked a little, yes.

There is no way any work can be done on the 4014
if the crew is 1,000 miles away from it, as they are
now -- unless contractors are working on it right now.

Just curious: How did the 844 manage to run a total
of around 500 miles in July, and now an additional
about 1,000 miles, if she really is in bad condition?

Who said she was in "bad condition"? The inside of the boiler was in "bad condition" by the end of 2013, as a result of the stupid boilerwater treatment program, and the lack of proper blowdowns & boiler washes. Having spent some millions of dollars on her by the time she ran for the CFD special in July 2016, I would have to assume she is on the path to further boiler damage, since the current manager is STILL using the same boilerwater treatment, and STILL has the Willson Sludge Remover system piped incorrectly.

Hell yeah they are, be nice if the facts actually proved the claims 100%!

Hehe. Have a thick skin. HotWater is quick on calling things out.

I might be curious about the progress of 4014 restoration two years from now, but why all the anxiety? It should be very obvious Ed Dickens' passion is with the 4014 so even without anyone egging him on, he'll do his best to work on it. Let nature take its course, and we'll know if the restoration went well (or not) couple of years from now.

Mindless gossip deserves grief... so to HotWater and Realist... carry on! :-)

I thought I read somewhere while they have been in Memphis, pass cars or something is being scrapped back in Cheyenne.   I can't remember where I saw it.

I was down by the shop on Friday, no signs of anything being scrapped.  It could have happened, but I didn't see anything.

Isn't scrapping done by contractors? And well away from shops or offices or regular working areas?

Very well may have been, but I didn't see anything in the yard being scrapped or out of place.  So I am not sure where it would have been or what could have been scrapped.  I do have to run down and grab a couple of totes out of the club trailer so if you let me know what I should look for I will see what I can find.
