"Whiteside Tunnel" would be its longstanding official name. It was named after Colonel James Whiteside, who was a major stockholder in the East Tennessee & Georgia Railroad, the company that took over construction of the line when the Chattanooga, Harrison, Georgetown & Charleston went bankrupt. The tunnel bores through Missionary Ridge, so it is usually referred to by the geologic formation rather than its formal name. I didn't know about it until I was doing research for a script a couple of years ago.
