Steam & Excursion > Steam and rural townsDate: 11/25/16 12:20 Steam and rural towns Author: tomstp Pictures of steam engines are associated with rural communities in a lot of photos. Here for example is Hallsville, Texas in the late 1930's. The scene is complete with a dirt road, pole lines, a crossbuck, a ramshackle building, all indicative of a small town, and a steam locomotive... In this case Texas & Pacific class I-1cr 2-10-4 # 646 apparently waiting for either a meet or a switchman to give it a signal since there is no smoke. While still, the sheer size of the steal giant along with its panting noises captured the attention of people when around them. .
