You try leaning out four feet on a skinny armrest.  Never quite figured out the reason for that, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

What year was it renumbered from 8444 to 844?

This photo would have been before the engine was renumbered from 844 to 8444, which took place in June 1962 to make way for a GP30.  After the GP30 was retired (and preserved), the steam engine went back to 844 in June 1989.
