Steam & Excursion > C&O 2-6-6-2 scheduled for July 1 trains

Western Maryland Scenic Railway has announced that tickets are avalable for the first public runs of C&O 2-6-6-2 #1309 on July 1.  Two round trips from Cumberland are planned,at 9am and 2pm.

Pretty old news. Posted quite some time ago. Maybe a SEARCH function is in order?

I believe this is the first posting with the date and times

​Yes, this is new as I just received an E-Mail from the Western Maryland Scenic giving the date and allowing for the purchase of tickets.  This is great news and I just hope that all goes well for this group who have worked so hard to get this engine restored.  Now I hope that the rail line itself can be repaired soon so that the train can return to Frostburg.  Trust me, this is very important for the general tourists who will want to ride this train.

Yes it is new because July up till now has been a guess as to when they might be finished. I'm really
curious as to how the engine sounds because compounds tend to be fairly soft at the stack.

This may have been asked before, does it fit the turntable at Frostburg?

Yes

That is awfull fast to get an engine steaming from one that has been stored outside for decades.  I hope they are correct on that date and if so, I tip my hat to them.

I am very much looking forward to this.
