Steam & Excursion > PRS Excursion to Perris

On Saturday, January 21, the Pacific Railroad Society (PRS) chartered a Metrolink train set for an excursion. The excursion operated from Los Angeles Union Station to San Bernardino, then to Perris-Downtown. PRS added their ex-Union Pacific 6 section-6 roomette-4 double bedroom sleeping car "Nation Forum" into the train.

​The excursion made stops along the Perris Valley (San Jacinto) subdivision at Riverside-Hunter Park, Moreno Valley-March Field and Perris-South before detraining at Perris-Downtown.

​After detraining at Perris-Downtown, the group went to the Orange Empire Railway Museum for a catered meal and riding the historic streetcars and trains that were operating.

​After enjoying the OERM, the group reboarded the train for a trip back to Los Angeles Union Station via Fullerton.

I am curious why it was routed to Perris via San Bernardino instead it regular route through Norwalk!

Tom, Railfans want something different, that's why one way via San Bernardino, one way via Fullerton.

In the early OERM fund raising excursions on the Santa Fe, we would do things like this.  Not only via Fullerton, but dip down to include "Olive", which had not seen regular service for many years.  Now its old hat with the Metrolink trains
