Well, I am happy for the owner but saddened as I will not be able to see her steamed up again.   At least I got to see her during the 1990's

Well looks like trips east a few hours are out of the question this year and the foreseeable future until some "cleaning" occurs.  Maybe move the #2 north to the NSSR, they seem to have their act together there and will have the #28 active this year. More willing to vote with the wallet there and as a bonus can enjoy some time with my nephews who are already looking forward to the August visit of Thomas & Percy.

I'll second that, sent some money to the 28 group and was very happy with their response, would donate
as you mention to help out an effort with the 2.

While NSSR would be a really nice venue for No. 2 (and I would LOVE to see her up there), keep in mind the last time LSRM/NSSR used someone else's loco (Soo 2719) it ended with a dispute over who pays what for the overhaul and ultimately there were hard feelings all around.

I don't know enough about the situation to say whether LSRM/NSSR would consider hosting a third-party locomotive again, but the way the restoration of the 28 pushed ahead tells me they really don't want to have to rely on someone else's steam locomotive ever again.

Wherever No. 2 winds up, you can bet there will be an extensive and detailed agreement put in place for her proper care and feeding. Which is as it should be.
