L&N 152 (4-6-2) with Kentucky Ry Museum Trips in October 1986
Author: MartyBernard

The Kentucky Railway Museum ran a series of trips in October 1986 with its L&N 152 (4-6-2).  The Museum's still operable Monon BL2 #32 was tucked in right behind the 153.  Bill Howes provided the schedule of trips.
  • October 4: Louisville - Lexington, RT
  • October 9: Louisville to Winchester to Corbin, OW
  • October 10: Corbin to Harlan (Eastern KY coal fields), OW
  • October 11: Harlan - Appalachia, VA (Eastern KY coal fields), RT
  • October 12: Harlan to Corbin, OW
  • October 13: Corbin to Lebanon to Louisville, OW
Roger Puta took photos but I don't know of which days.  The first five of his photos are below.  They are of one evening and the next morning.  I hope someone may be able to identify the locations.  More photos tomorrow.

Enjoy Roger's photos,
Marty Bernard

Note, for the first three, I made the second look more like the blue hour and the first and third look more like just a slightly over-cast sunset.  All three slides were very underexposed and quite blue.  I'm sure they were not that way when Kodak returned them to Roger.

the car was loaned to the group by  the private owner from San Francisco .
I worked this trip and what a nice one it was ! Great people and weather to
match . The car was leased to the Indiana Railroad for several months just
after this trip terminated . It then returned to So. California and was used by
the Group restoring 3751 for some time as an office / lounge at Fontana , Ca.

ITS ATSF 56 - now owned by The Indiana Railroad - Mr. Tom Hoback
was the president of this company when it was sold to them. The car
was listed for sale last year by Ozark Mountain Railcar . Its been very
well restored and furnished .

Kind regards ,

Al H.
