Here we are, going back to the Stack Music Sampler series for the third and final video exclusively of Frisco 1522.  These scenes were filmed during her last couple of years of operation in 2001 and 2002.

Wonderful! Classic good looks, loud sharp exhaust, and that mellow haunting whistle.

No helpers either!

She was a talker at any speed.  Thanks for your usual fine production, Mary.

Thanks Mary.  I really miss rattling the windows with her.

I miss working with her.  She went back in the museum about two and a half months before I got my first video camera.  I was strictly audio and stills up to that point.

the BEST stack talk I've ever heard was the 1522 marching upgrade into McGregor, Texas from the north back in 2001. Those sharp LOUD staccato blasts are permanently ingrained in my memory.

Wonderful. And hardly any whistle to distract from the beautiful exhaust!

I was never a believer of unnecessary whistling, or babble whistling as I called it.  I don't think my fireman was a huge fan either, the whistle was in front of him and much louder on his side.
I've noticed a couple of groups love to keep blowing it for no apparent reason, like blowing for a crossing on a long bridge, etc.
The UP does a lot more whistling than it used to.
Keep it businesslike.

Mary ---
Thanks very much for the great cideo of a wonderful and very
impressive locomotive that I never got around to going to see
and hear.  I love her stack talk; it is truly music -- a very, very
impressive and magnificent sonata for a solo percussion
instrument -- the Frisco 1522.

I, too, would much rather hear great and loud and square stack
talk than the whistle.  I agree completely that most engineers blow
the whistle far, far too much, and it almost always drowns out
their locomotive's magnificent and very impressive  stack talk.
The sheer power a steam locomotiove has is best experienced
by hearing the loud blasts of her exhaust -- and by how the ground
shakes as she passes.

How many cars was she pulling in the last clip?  I counted 22
before the video faed out.

What a locomotive!!
