Steam & Excursion > T&P 610 on AFT at Houston -- Feb 76Date: 02/21/17 05:48 T&P 610 on AFT at Houston -- Feb 76 Author: gcm At Houston Union Station ex-T&P 610 is departing with the American Freedom Train early in the morning (4-5am).
It will head north in Texas mostly on the Santa Fe. I tried a grab shot with the train moving and high speed Ektachrome. Not very sharp but I liked the way the lights hit the smoke. What are the odds of 1. the engine number in the body of the order and 2. working on the AFT and being pulled by this loco?

The line from Ft Worth to Marshall/Texarkana was always very busy. In a effort to speed up trains, many of them would carry an auxillary water car behind the engine which would make the train capable of making an entire subdivison run without having to take water.
