Number 4 Wasatch RR Contractors-Cheyenne
Author: cozephyr

Kathleen Brantigan and her husband, Charles, at Wasatch Railroad Contractors in Cheyenne, Wyoming, February 22, 2017 for delivery of their locomotive number 4, a Baldwin Prairie 2-6-2.   Locomotive will receive maintenance before going to Como, Colorado, summer 2017.

Klondike Mining 4 was built by Baldwin in April 1912.  Used only by Klondike Mining 1912 into 1913 then stored at Dawson City, Alaska.  White Pass & Yukon used #4 starting 1942 during World War II (WWII) at their Skagway, Alaska yard.  White Pass & Yukon displayed the locomotive in Alaska until 1955 when it was purchased and moved to Wisconsin.

Saw a photo of this thing in Skagway way back in the 80s. At the time it was not well kept. Now it's looking really sharp, I believe it runs thanks to a lot of hard work!

Great photo, as always!
