Steam & Excursion > More Number 4 at WasatchDate: 02/22/17 16:23 More Number 4 at Wasatch Author: Bob3985 Today Wasatch Railroad Contractors received the locomotive for restoration for the folks at the Como Roundhouse site. Number 4 arrived just before noon and was off loaded from the truck that ferried it up here from Silver Plume.
Photo 1; Shows #4 being pulled into the Wasatch shop on panel track. Photo #2; Shows Steve operating the pulling fork lift. And Photo #3; Shows #4 inside the shop at rest and ready to be restored. Photo #5; is the cab of #4. It appeared to me to have a Westinghouse #6 air brake. Photo #6; On the way back to my office I ran across UP 2000 SD40-2 sitting out in the old government yard tracks unmanned, as the crew was likely off to lunch. Thanks John for allowing use to document the arrival of #4. The folks standing in front of #4 in Photo # 3, are the owners of the loco and from the Como area. Date: 02/22/17 18:06 Re: More Number 4 at Wasatch Author: Bob3985 Don, They will restore it to operation. Como wants to run it there.
Also it was a 2-6-2 but will be a 2-6-0. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/22/17 18:07 by Bob3985. Date: 02/22/17 18:11 Re: More Number 4 at Wasatch Author: TrackGuy Bob,
Any idea why they are going to make it a 2-6-0? Will it be set up to look like a C&S or DSP&P 2-6-0? TrackGuy Date: 02/22/17 19:31 Re: More Number 4 at Wasatch Author: Bob3985 TrackGuy Wrote:

However, this may not happen before this summer. Considering the limited amount of operating planned this summer, it was felt that the trailing truck could wait until the funding had been raised. Also, this work could be completed in Como and we wanted Mr. Lee to focus on the things we are not set up to do ourselves in the Como roundhouse. The cab she has now will “work” for now. However, we do plan on building a new “correct” cab for #4 and it will be narrowed a few inches to match the original cab’s dimensions. The plan is to have #4 running this summer. However, her "complete" restoration will take a little longer based on limited funds. We will be posting restoration updates on our South Park Website Edited 1 time(s).
