Has the slide area repair been completed at WM Scenic?
Author: HotWater

Rumor has it that the slide areas have all been repaired and operations all the way to Frostburg can now be made. Can anyone confirm this?

According to their announcement of the September No. 1309 photo charter...yes. To quote their announcement;   "The landslides are fixed."  The charter is scheduled to run the entire length of the "New" Western Maryland from Maryland Junction to Frostburg.

That's fine for September but, what about NOW??

Lets try this again. The quote I referenced from the announcement says "THE LANDSLIDES ARE FIXED."  I take that to mean they are fixed now...as in ARE fixed. Othwerise it would have said something like "the landslides are expected to be fixed by Septermber."  If they aren't fixed, it's then misscommuication by the orgainzers  TRAINS Magazine and the WM Scenic.

Hey HotWater - It's amazing the information you can quickly find out when you use - what is it that you call it - "FakeBook"?  :)

Thanks for the specific and DIRECT information and answer to my question!

However, I refer to that "site" as faceplant, and NEVER have anything to do with it.

You're welcome.  At the same time, it's your loss.  Have you ever tried it?  Or is it just a case of closed-mindedness?

"closed-mindedness"????   Nope. I just do NOT care to have our personal information "monitored", "hacked", or  "viewed" by folks all over the world, nor "monitoring" of all my contacts (if I ever made any).

Someone should have just answered "yes".

Is that photo shot at Maryland Junction? Last time I was there was around 1975 and it looked a LOT different. Does the tower still stand?

In fact, that would have easily answered my original question, without all the crap from andersonb109, whoever the hell he is!

I completely agree with you there Hot Water.... I refer to the site as "Butt Face" everyone knows all your personal buisness including your B----. Privacy is a really easy thing to loose and highly unlikely to regain full control of after a event has happened. Social Media equals everyone knowing your personal info... No Thanks.

He just gave a good sold answered without being a smart butt like some people do on this board. If people would learn to completely read somebody comment before jumping down their throats we won't have this problem.
Maybe he doesn't want his information hacked and all over the world. That why people don't put certain personal information on Facebook. I don't care if somebody hacks my Facebook account I don't have anything to hide because I keep my personal information off it, just like some people did on train orders. I guess some people are afraid of changes and are going to live their life in a box and complaining about something they don't have a clue about

When a web site knows who your friends are even before you've used it, being called closed-minded doesn't seem so bad in comparison. Yup, I received an unsolicited e-mail from Faceplant with such an information to lure me to join. Creepy doesn't even describe it.

Facebook totally blows as a media/information platform, and I have no clue why people are so enamoured by it.  The format is HORRIBLE. I go there ONLY because some people/organizations insist on using it to disseminate information.  I have a fake account with no ties to myself that I use to retrieve information.   The ONLY posting I do there are responses to information posted there.  They could shut the whole thing down and I wouldn't give it a second thought. Facebook could be the biggest single waste of people's time since TV was invented. 90% of the stuff that gets sent to my wife is pointless and is neither very interesting or informative.    I guess I'm just not narcissistic enough to assume that anybody cares what I'm doing, what I've been doing, or what I had for dinner.  Twitter is just as bad.   Just another way for people to avoid actually having  REAL adult conversations and discussions.

I saw the post, too, that said the landslides are fixed as well. I think what the poster here was asking for was a confirmation of what he read. As in a visual confirmation. You can't always believe everything you read and nothing beats a visual confirmation. Nothing wrong with that.

Like it or not if you want to know what is going on railroad wise in my area (Ohio) then Facebook is about the only option for timely information on special moves etc. I avoided it for a long time but finally gave in and joined. My Facebook is almost entirely train stuff as I unfollow most "friends" if they post too much crap I don't want to see.

I come here for nationwide stories and FB for local stuff.

THIS guy gets it! Facebook is what you make of it. Mine is set so only people I approve can see what I post and you're not required to post one iota of factual personal info on there. I've found distant relatives I would've never known otherwise, caught unscheduled steam moves, caught WWII planes, found long lost childhood friends, made new friends from all walks of life, and made many memories with loved ones at events I wouldn't have heard of if not for Facebook. It's really an amazing tool for enriching your life if you want that. Acting aloof because you won't accept something new is just as silly as a kid gloating that they will NEVER try a vegetable.
