Quincy Railroad #2 Pressed into MOW service
Author: Steam2k

Back in 2003 on the Niles Canyon Railway, the Quincy Railroad Co. #2 was pressed into MOW service to deliver a flatcar load of rail to the mighty "Ballasteros" who were hard at work near the Hearst interchange.

Is she a sister locomotive to Granite Rock No. 10 at CSRM? They resemble each other.

The QRR 2 is believed in essence to be the prototype 2-6-2T marketed by ALCO, and there are several unique stories concerning the locomotive's early years of existence. So I don't screw them up by repeating, I'll pass on relaying them on here.

The Granite Rock 10 is a typical US Army 0-6-0T, and the museum owns a second which is used to cannibalize parts from. The Queen Anne's in Lewes, DE, used to operate one, and the Southeast Ry. Museum in Georgia still runs theirs, the only operable standard-gauge steam locomotive in the State I believe.
