Nostalgia & History > Lone Star departing Cleburne,Tx -- June 76Date: 11/13/05 15:44 Lone Star departing Cleburne,Tx -- June 76 Author: gcm The northbound Lone Star is ready to depart the Santa Fe station on its way to Chicago. An SDP40F and an E unit will do the honors. Two E units brought the train in from Houston and were cut off.
The Santa Fe station on the right has been torn down while the brick building on the far right was the station for the Trinity & Brazos Valley Ry (abandoned in 1932). It was an antique store at this time but later burned. Between the train and the station a couple of tracks can be seen that were once part of the station trackage (brick platforms could still be seen). It was a shame that this train was cut in 1979, only if the Heartland Flyer could run through to Kansas.

I recall scenes such as your slides here.
I appreciate seeing your slides taken in Texas. --Kelly |
