Good stuff, Mike. Looks like a SDP40F/F40PH pairing on Amtrak #35, the westbound Desert Wind. At first I thought it was a late running Southwest Limited, due to all the high-level cars in the consist and the afternoon sun angle. The Desert Wind often had several low-level cars in the consist from its inception up until the very early 80's -a mix of heritage and Amfleet, plus an ex-ATSF El Capitan car or two.

In June 1983, Tr.#3, the westbound Southwest Ltd., arrives at the Santa Fe Depot in Pasadena, CA enroute to its final destination at LAUPT.
