Nostalgia & History > Rock Island memoriesDate: 02/25/06 23:35 Rock Island memories Author: dt8089 Figured it was time for some Rock Island stuff.
First up is E-8 652 in its bicentennial scheme hustling out of Blue Island IL in August of 76. Next is an ABBA hookup of E-8's on a westbound freight rolling by Pilcher Park between New Lenox and Joliet. Locally known as Cherry Hill. And finally this early morning shot of a southbound grain train at Short Line tower in Des Moines IA in June of 79. Hopefully all these pics will be in order.:-) Dan Date: 02/25/06 23:55 Re: Rock Island memories Author: stevelv Thank You! Any Rock Island is good viewing. I saw E units on freight in UP colors but never Rock paint. Thanks for posting.

JC Date: 02/26/06 10:31 Info for Rock Island fans Author: bradleymckay An FYI: Andover Junction Publications publishes a quarterly magazine called "Remember the Rock" and it HIGHLY recommended, even at $9.99 per issue (subscription is $36.00 per year). Their address is P.O. Box 500 Mendota, IL 61342. I don't have their e-mail address handy at the moment.
Phone # is 815-538-3060... AM Date: 02/26/06 10:57 Re: Rock Island memories Author: CNW8531 Great work, keep 'em comming! Rock Island E's look just as good hauling freight as they do on passenger runs.

The Quad Cities Rocket usually had three cars plus possibly Big Ben. |
