Yuba Gap and Kodachromes
Author: odub

Yuba Gap has always been, to me, one of the most beautiful places to shoot trains. This series was captured in May of 1987 with a Rio Grande SD40T-2 leading the coal loads, a slug of Kodachrome units at mid-train, and the classic (to me, at least) SP caboose trailing.

Very nice Don. I wonder if that's our coal train headed over the hill for Permanente or Davenport?

Another possible destination could have been Trona.

It also could have been the export coal bound for Long Beach.

Or a mix of the coal for Long Beach and Trona. I remember SP dropping off a block of cars at Mojave for Trona, then take the rest to Long Beach!
