Thanks for posting the picture Drew; I forwarded a copy to a retired conductor friend who worked for the NP in Laurel, MT. He'll appreciate it as he's a bit of a rail fan himself.

Nice. The NP main from Seattle to Bellingham ran along our back fence line when we lived in Lake Stevens. I joined the Navy in '70 and by the time I got time to look around, the NP was gone, tracks and all. Haven't seen many pictures of NP equipment, so I save everything I can get. Thank's.

The trio looks like a helper set at Bozeman, waiting for an eastbound which was and is standard practice, even today. I wonder if the passenger painted unit was regeared for freight as I don't believe a high geared unit would work well in a helper consist.
