EL SD45's on early Conrail. Bethlehem, Pa crossing Lehigh River, Bethlehjem on north end of ex-Reading Bethlehem branch, and leaving Allentown Yard - all 1976.

The last pictures is how I remember the Erie, poor old wobbly and uneven rails snaking through the weeds. Fantastic.

If you look closely, the 3652, 3659 and several other units in the photos are SDP45's. They have the extension behind the flared radiators for the steam generators, but did not come with the units. The EL bought those because of the larger fuel tanks under the extended frame. Eventually they became Conrail units, leased units and then some of them became M-K rebuilds for the Southern Pacific. I have some photos of the leased units as well as the SP units, but none scanned at the moment.
